Week of 4/18 - 4/22

Welcome to Week 1 of the 6th Six Weeks! You've made it this far and you have proven to be true FALCONS!


This week we will zero-in into "our world"; we will begin to explore our great state of Texas.
The learner will be able to identify major eras in Texas history! Students will define the states characteristics and explain why historians divide the past into eras. Students will defend a point of view on an issue of historical or contemporary interest in Texas.

Reminders:
-Continue to come to school everyday - it is the last six weeks and attendance is important until the last day.

-School policy on uniforms is still in place - no hoodies/pullovers are allowed, university/college tshirts are only allowed on Thursdays, and spirit shirts on Fridays. 


-Blue or Autism Awareness tshirts are allowed on the following Wednesdays, April 20th and April 27th only. 

-Continue to strive for excellence...that's who WE are!

Week of 4/4 - 4/8

Week 6 of the 6th Six Weeks and the term is not over...this period has seven weeks. 
I encourage all students to continue to strive to be at their best. Remember that you are Falcons and you will SOAR above the rest!

This week we will focus on a region called Oceania. Oceania is name used for the islands scattered throughout most of the Pacific Ocean. You will learn more about Polynesia and Micronesia as well as other sections that Oceania has been divided by. 


Reminders:
-Students who met the Krispy Kreme fundraiser goal will be traveling to PP and the movies on Monday afternoon.
-Ice Cream treats will be passed out on Monday for those students who sold two boxes of Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
-District Benchmarks for Math and Reading are scheduled for this week. Sixth grade students will take the Math benchmark on Tuesday and Reading on Wednesday.
-Autism Awareness Walk on Friday, April 8th. 
-Six Weeks Exams next week for writing, science, and history.

Week of 3/28 - 4/1

Week 5 of the 5th Six Weeks

This week 7th and 8th grade students will be taking STAAR assessments. On Tuesday, 7th grade students will take the Writing exam and some 8th grade students will take the Math exam. On Wednesday, 8th grade students will take the Reading exam.

This week you will discover mysteries of Antarctica including its unique physical features.

Week of 2/15 - 2/19

This is the last week of the 4th Six Weeks!

You will be taking your World History Six Weeks Exam on Thursday, February 18th. Make sure you review your journal and pay attention to the in-class reviews. You will also be taking other six weeks exams, make sure you prepare for them.

Next week we begin the 5th Six Weeks...wow! The end of the school year is fast approaching. Be cognizant of your assignments and make all efforts to achieve your highest potential. YOU CAN DO IT!

Week of 2/8 - 2/12

Review Week


This week you will study and review all objectives taught during the 4th Six Weeks to further your skills and education about the countries covered.  Students will work in groups and research various regions such as West Africa, Central and North Africa and Southwest Asia. You will work in groups and will present by then end of the week.

Next week you will be taking your 4th Six Weeks Exams. Make sure you have turned in all of your assignments. If you are pending an assignment or have questions, please ask.

Week of 1/25 - 1/29

Greetings Falcons!
The month of January is almost over which means we only have four more months of school. Within these four months many things are yet to happen. We still have STAAR exams, presentations, trip, fun activities, and lots of learning to accomplish. I want to congratulate students who have been present everyday and those that have tried to be here everyday; you help make our school shine!

Week of 1/18 - 1/22

Welcome to week 3 of the 4th Six Weeks. Progress reports will be generated soon. Make sure that  you have turned in all of your assignments and are caught up in all of your classes. I will continue to remind you that attendance is very important, you miss school and you already missed instruction. You want to excel in all of your classes and you can only do that if you come to school every day.

This week in World History we will be learning about East Africa. Last week was fun as you learned about North Africa, Egypt. This week we remain in the continent of Africa but we move East and explore the region.

Week of 1/6 - 1/8

Happy New Year Falcons! I hope that you are well rested and ready to SOAR this semester! We are beginning the 4th Six Weeks of your sixth grade year...yes, the 4th Six Weeks!

This week you will be exploring and learning about Southwest Asia. You will learn about its major physical features, history, and current life.

Reminders:
Uniform policy must be adhered to at all times unless an announcement has been made by our principal Mrs. Gonzalez. 
-Pull-overs are not allowed as per district policy. Please avoid being called on.
-Warm-ups/windbreakers are not allowed. Principal will announce when you may wear them (extreme cold weather).
-You are to wear your polo-style shirt (white for 6th grade) Monday-Friday.
-You are allowed to wear college tshirts on Thursdays.
-You are allowed to wear a spirit shirt on Fridays. Shirts that can be worn are: Falcon blue or black tshirts, home campus spirit shirts, and Rattler and Gator spirit shirts. 

We are FALCONS and as FALCONS we should set the example and abide by all rules all the time.

Week of 12/14 - 12/18

This is the last week of the 3rd Six Weeks. Make sure that you have turned in all assignments to your teachers. You will be taking your World History Six Weeks exam on Wednesday, December 16.

End of the semester socials will be held on Friday, December 17. We will be having early release that day. The schedule is as follows: 12:20 GMS, 12:40 VMS, and 12:50 RMS. Students will be released at one from home campuses.

Enjoy your long break! We will see you back on January 6, 2016.

Week of 12/7 - 12/11

One more week of school and we all get to enjoy the winter break!

This week you will be exploring the Caucasus and Central Asia Republics. You will learn about the geography of the area and its history. You will also be reading about the development of kingdoms and trades in Central Asia and you will create a web diagram with a partner.

"Christmas Around the World" presentations are on Friday. Bring your Christmas tree ornament if you haven't done so.The tree looks amazing!

Week of 11/30 - 12/4


Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed your week long vacation. We have three more weeks of school before our Winter Break. I ask that you remain focused and pay attention to all your teachers. Success is still our goal for you! Make sure you continue to come to school, attendance plays a big part of your success in school.

This week you will be learning about Russia. You will learn about its people, culture, and geography. You will also become familiar with the map of Russia.

Week of 11/16 - 11/20

Week 2 of the 3rd Six Weeks

This week we will explore Northern and Southern Europe. You will learn about its early history, climate, and geography of the region. Some of the countries which you will learn about are Greece, Finland, Sweden, and Italy.

Something to think about!
As the week progresses reflect on the following questions.
How do new ideas change the way people live? How do people adapt to their new environment?

Reminders:
-Follow uniform policy at all times.
-Continue to come to school every day. Attendance Matters!
-Saturday Enrichment classes begin tomorrow, November 14 from 8:00-12:00 noon. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Week of 11/9 - 11/13

Can you believe this is week one of the 3rd Six Weeks? Time is sure flying by. I encourage you to continue to stay focused in your academics as many of you are participating in extra curricular activities. These activities are important and will help you become a well-rounded individual but you must complete all assignments. 
This week you will travel East of the Atlantic Ocean to Western Europe. You will learn about the natural resources, climate, landforms and waterways, history of the region through 1800’s, the Roman Empire, the Middle Ages, and Early Modern Europe.

Week of 11/2 - 11/6

This the last week of the 2nd Six Weeks and it is Benchmark and Six Weeks Exams week. On Monday you will be reviewing for your History exam on Friday. Make sure to review your journal.

Make sure you concentrate and try your very best on your Reading and Math benchmarks!
