Week of 4/14 - 4/18

We have reached the end of the 5th Six Weeks period. This week students will be taking the 5th Six Weeks exams for Science and Geography. Students, review material covered during this period and you will SOAR this week!

Week of 4/7 - 4/11

 5th Six Weeks - Week 6

NEXT WEEK IS SIX WEEKS EXAM WEEK! 


This week in Science we will learn how to calculate kinetic energy and potential energy.

FALCONS, do not forget that on Friday we will be traveling to the Joe R. Sanchez Stadium and join the Autism Awareness Walk sponsored by Roque Guerra, Jr. Elementary. Wear your bright neon green shirts! You all will look as bright as a highlighter as we show our support. I would like to encourage you to continue to read and learn about ASD.

Week of 3/31 - 4/4

Good bye March and welcome April!

Several things will be happening during this month.

April is Autism Awareness Month and April 2nd is Light It Up Blue day. For more information click on the image below.


During this month, students in the state of Texas are assessed with the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR). Falcons will SOAR through these assessments and will end the year successfully! Seventh grade students will be administered the first exams of this year on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week (Writing days 1 and 2). 

This week, in science, we will continue to learn about energy, mechanical energy to be precise. Students will be able to know the differences between potential and kinetic energy. In geography students will gain knowledge about the nation's capital, Washington, D.C.

What else is going on this week?
Monday - April Fools' Day (be careful with your pranks :) always respect each other)
Wednesday - Light It Up Blue (try to light up your home blue)
Thursday - University T-shirt Day
Friday - Falcon Friday (show off your spirt and wear your spirit shirt)

Next week?
Friday, April 11th, we travel to the Joe R. Sanchez Stadium to support the annual Roque Guerra, Jr. Elementary Autism Awareness Walk.

Week of 3/3 - 3/7

Hello week 2 of the 5th Six Weeks :)

Columbia students who turned in their Six Flags Read to Succeed reading log will receive a free ticket to a Six Flag's Theme Park, including Fiesta Texas, at the end of the school year! Thank you for participating!

This week...
In science we will learn about dwarf planets and other objects. After viewing the links under the Science Assignment post, you should be ready to have a discussion in class.

In geography we will travel to the West Indies and learn about the islands that make up that region.

Thursday is University t-shirt day...don't forget to sport a shirt of your favorite college/university.
Friday is Falcon Friday day! Wear your Falcon spirit shirt and show off your pride!

Also, don't forget to bring in your money for the end-of-the year trip to San Antonio! Due date: March 19, 2014

Welcome to the 3rd week of the 4th Six Weeks! 

Science: This week students will come up with the purpose/question and hypothesis for their Science Fair projects. Begin to bring materials for projects. 

Geography: This week students will review the Rocky Mountain region and will work on a "suitcase" while they focus on one state.

Week 2 of the 4th Six Weeks

Science: This six weeks we will be learning about the Scientific Method and will culminate our learning experience with a Science Fair. Students, you will soon select your topics for your projects!

Geography: We will study 2 of the 6 regions in depth this week. Be prepared to travel this week and the weeks to come!

Week of 1/7-1/10

WELCOME BACK!
I hope that you are rested, ready, and energized to continue SOARing at the Academy!

Science:
This week we will continue to polish our science skills as we embark into the Scientific Method which will lead us to fun and exciting new things!

Geography:
This week we will learn about the different regions in our country and the states within each region.

Also, we will be collecting winter clothing items such as coats, mittens, gloves, earmuffs, scarfs, socks, jackets, warm-ups, etc. We will also gladly accept blankets. Let's help members of our community by sharing the warmth. Bring in new or cleaned items to class. WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Week of 12/9 - 12/13

This week you will be taking the Science and Geography 3rd Six Weeks Exams due to scheduled Reading and Mathematics District Benchmarks.

Students, make sure you review and prepare for your exams.

We will be traveling to our local movie theater to see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Please remember to bring in your $10 by Wednesday, December 11th.

Ac2E Middle School will be having a "Keep Them Warm" Drive. We will accept any new/used blankets coats, jackets, hoodies, sweaters, mittens, gloves, scarfs, etc. If items are used please make sure they are clean and in good condition.

Go FALCONS!
